Doors & Windows
I LOVE this photoblog, Portes et Fenetres (which is French for Doors and Windows). I stumbled across it while looking for pictures of France. It is dedicated to photographs of interesting and lovely (you guessed it) doors and windows. Most of them are found in France, but there are pictures from all over Europe and a few from New York.
Really, really lovely.
It makes you wonder, where do one of those doors take you? Don’t you want to find out?

I love the anticipation of opening a new door. I love the beauty I see through the windows or the light coming from under the door. I am always waiting to open that door even before it is ready to be opened. However, I am coming to learn that the world on the other side will come to resemble the world on this side pretty soon after I move over the threshold and become accustomed to the new light. Of if only that anticipation would give way to the true freshness that could be had if we would only allow ourselves to move beyond.
I love old doors-the older the better; they represent a more pleasant time when life really was about the home you lived in, that entryway truly was like a threshold… old architecture is just so rich with history. I wonder how modern architecture will be revered hundreds of years from now. It seems nothing can be left alone anymore, we’re constantly making over and such… will anything even still be around to provide a story?
